My name is Misheck, and my journey has been shaped by dreams, disappointment, perseverance, and a deep belief that every challenge can lead to a new purpose.

As a young boy in Zimbabwe, I dreamed of becoming a professional tennis player. Tennis was more than a sport to me it was a dream that gave me something to work toward. I trained hard, pushed myself, and believed that one day I could make it to the highest level.

But dreams sometimes meet realities we cannot control. The financial cost of pursuing a professional tennis career became too great, and eventually I had to accept that the path I had imagined for myself was no longer possible.

Giving up on that dream was painful. But I learned something that has stayed with me ever since: when one door closes, it does not mean the journey has ended. Sometimes, it means you are being led toward a different purpose.

Over the years, I had the incredible opportunity to meet some of the world's greatest tennis champions, including Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev. Seeing their dedication and the sacrifices behind their success reminded me of the values I had learned through tennis discipline, patience, resilience, and never giving up.

Then, in 2005, something unexpected began to change my life.

I discovered another way to express myself: art.

I started creating artwork using beads and wire. What began as a small creative passion slowly grew into something much bigger. I began experimenting with recycled metal and wood, transforming materials that others might overlook into something beautiful and meaningful.

That journey eventually became Afrisculpts.

For me, Afrisculpts is not simply about making and selling art. Every sculpture carries a part of my journey the belief that something ordinary can be transformed into something extraordinary.

I also wanted my journey to create opportunities for others.

Through Afrisculpts, I work with emerging artists in Zimbabwe, sharing knowledge, encouraging creativity, and helping talented people develop their skills and businesses. I know what it feels like to have a dream but not always have the resources to pursue it. That is why helping others is such an important part of what we do.

Our vision also extends beyond art. We support schools in Zimbabwe by providing essential learning materials, because I believe that a child's circumstances should not determine the size of their dreams.

And my love for tennis never disappeared.

Although I did not become the professional tennis player I once dreamed of becoming, I still want to help create opportunities for young Zimbabwean players who have the talent and determination but lack sponsorship or equipment. Through Afrisculpts, I hope to support these young athletes and give them a better chance to pursue the dreams I once pursued myself.

Today, I look back and realize that my first dream was not wasted.

Tennis taught me perseverance.
Art taught me creativity.
Life taught me purpose.

And Afrisculpts has given me a way to bring all three together.

From a young boy dreaming of becoming a tennis champion, to an artist creating beauty from recycled materials, my journey has taught me that success is not always about achieving the dream you started with. Sometimes, it is about discovering a new dream and using your journey to help others achieve theirs.

At Afrisculpts, we believe art can do more than decorate a space. It can tell a story. It can create opportunities. It can bring people together. And, most importantly, it can become a force for positive change.
