How Afrisculpts Was Founded...
My name is Misheck, and my journey is one of passion, perseverance, and creativity.
As a child, I dreamed of becoming a professional tennis player. With talent and determination, I worked hard to achieve this goal, but the high costs of a professional tennis career ultimately made it out of reach. Despite these challenges, I had the privilege of meeting some of the world’s greatest tennis champions, including Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev. Their success and dedication deeply inspired me, teaching me the true value of persistence.
In 2005, my path took a new turn. I found inspiration closer to home and began creating my own artwork, starting with beads and wire art. Over time, my skills evolved, and I discovered the potential of recycled metal and wood as artistic mediums. These materials not only allowed me to express my creativity but also aligned with my passion for sustainability.
Although my dream of becoming a professional tennis player didn’t come true, I found a new purpose: supporting and empowering talent in my home country, Zimbabwe. Through Afrisculpts, I collaborate with emerging artists, providing mentorship and helping them develop their skills and businesses. But our mission goes beyond art. We are committed to giving back to the community by supporting schools in Zimbabwe through the provision of essential learning materials, helping to improve education and create opportunities for children.
My passion for tennis still lives on, and I want to contribute to the growth of the sport in Zimbabwe. Afrisculpts is dedicated to supporting young, talented tennis players who lack sponsorship by providing them with equipment, helping them chase their dreams.
At Afrisculpts, we believe art is more than just a form of expression—it has the power to transform lives, strengthen communities, and create a lasting positive impact. Through our work, we aim not only to bring beauty and inspiration but also to build a brighter future for the people and communities we serve.
